Hispanic celebration of Christmas marks the commemoration of the Three Kings visit
Christmas is not over on December 25th according to families whose heritage is from Latin and South America. For centuries, Hispanic children have celebrated Los Reyes, (Three Kings) in the same manner as their grandparents did when they were children. January 6th is called the Epiphany (from the Greek work Epiphania – meaning revelation) and is traditionally the day when the Magi arrived bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh for the Christ child and the day that children received their Christmas gifts, in commemoration of the Magi visit.
